>>Fox The Fox

Typical Italo-inspired one hit wonder with Dutch group Fox The Fox. I have played "Precious Little Diamond" (1989) many times as the last song of the evening or as a warm up in places suitable. I have never seen any clip, video or pictures until now but after noticing the karate kick on the cymbal in the middle of the song and seen their haircuts I love this tune even more.

>>General Johnson "Chairman Of The Board" - R.I.P

General Johnson, lead singer for Chairmen of the Board, died on October 13 due to complications of lung cancer. He was sixty-nine. Below you can listen to the first single and my favorite: "Men are getting scarse". Brilliant! There is also a cover version which was a huge commercial hit sung by Angela Clemmons in 1982. This version is kind of tacky but she is an amazing singer.

Give Me Just a Little More Time" is the debut single for Chairmen of the Board, released in 1970 (see 1970 in music) through Capitol Records on HollandDozierHolland's Invictus Records label. The song was written and produced by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, Edward Holland, Jr., and Ron Dunbar. Because of then still pending lawsuit against Holland-Dozier-Holland from their former employers, Motown, the trio credited themselves with the pseudonym "Edythe Wayne" for this song and many other early Invictus/Hot Wax releases.

"Give Me Just a Little More Time" features Chairmen of the Board lead singer General Johnson as the narrator, begging a lover who rejected him to reconsider and give him "just a little more time". The song was very similar to a Motown recording in more ways than one. Not only was it written and produced by Holland-Dozier-Holland, but the instrumental track was performed by members of The Funk Brothers, Motown's in-house band. The Funk Brothers who played on "Give Me Just A Little More Time" include: * Bass: Bob Babbitt * Guitarists: Dennis Coffey, Eddie Willis, and Ray Monette * Keyboards: Johnny Griffith * Drums: Richard 'Pistol' Allen * Percussion: Jack Ashford

"Give Me Just a Little More Time", backed with "Since the Days of Pigtails", peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, making it the best-performing of the Chairmen's singles, and the first of the Chairmen's four Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 pop hits. The single also peaked at number-eight on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. The first Chairmen of the Board LP, a self-titled release, included the single; after the single's success, the Chairmen of the Board album was reissued as Give Me Just a Little More Time. In 1982, Angela Clemmons released a popular dance version of "Give Me Just a Little More Time".
